Abstract

In this communication, design and analysis of monopole antenna that works on ultra-wide band (UWB) frequency range are presented. The designed antenna has a circular fractal geometry and the dimensions of antenna are 20 mm x 30 mm x 1 mm. The substrate material of antenna is FR-4 which has a relative permittivity of 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.02. The antenna resonates at between 2.9 GHz and 11.7 GHz with the bandwidth 8.8 GHz. In the study, fundamental specification of antenna such as return loss, gain and radiation pattern are given and interpreted step by step. Antenna has a small profile which makes it portable and suitable for UWB applications.
