Özet

The sustainability concept has always been in the focus of scientific and philosophical world since Aristotle first tried to create a kind of "self-sustained household". However, sustainability has gained popularity since the 1980's and since then it is used not only in scientific discussions but also in daily life. ? Sustainable human settlements are going to preserve their importance in agenda as a vision to be reached by disciplines related with urban and regional planning. Nowadays, just like many other fields of planning, also in transport planning the sustainability concept is discussed frequently and old theories are revisited and new ones formulated.
