Özet:In this research, the novels of Sevim Ak, one of the authors in contemporary Turkish children‟s literature, were analyzed in the context of gender perception. Within the scope of this study, it was aimed to answer the research question “What are the reflections of the gender perception in Sevim Aks‟s novels?” In this respect, the ways of reflection of gender perception on elements such as person, time, place, theme, language and expression were examined in 16 novels (all novels of the author) that constitute the data source of the research; social gender appearances and representations were discussed; sociocultural factors that structure gender perception were tried to be determined. In this study which has the characteristic of non-interactive analytical qualitative research, the data were collected by document analysis method. In this research, the data obtained from all of Sevim Ak‟s novels were analyzed using the content analysis technique within the framework of the categories created within the scope of the purpose and sub-purpose of the research. First of all, each sub-category developed within the scope of the main category (analysis unit) was divided into categories within itself and analyzed separately in 16 novels. Afterwards, the findings obtained were analyzed and interpreted in line with the x aims of the research. In addition, in the content analysis process, the data were handled with a versatile analysis based on association and comparison. This stage was supported by quotations and examples from novels. The findings related to each category were presented in tabular form by specifying the novels; the data for novels within the framework of the relevant category were shown numerically. As a result of analysis, although findings supporting gender stereotypes were encountered in Sevim Ak‟s novels, it was found that the author developed her characters outside of traditional codes and roles as well; she balanced the traditional and the contemporary by structuring the male and female characters with modern roles; it had a balanced and egalitarian attitude both in terms of numerical terms, gender roles and other elements (profession, education, social life etc.). Thus, it was determined that she tried to bring the male and female character frame to a more contemporary level. Within the scope of this research, it is suggested that in the process of socialization, children should be meet with children‟s literature works that are free from gender stereotypes and structured in accordance with the requirements of modern life in order to gain gender awareness. In addition, it is suggested in the texts chosen/used for Turkish language education that children should be provided educational, desirable, empathetic, egalitarian, and democratic guidance related to the phenomenon of gender
