11 THE STUDY OF THE TURKISH MUSIC MAKAM BASED ON VIOLIN PLAYING TECNIQUES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC EDUCATION IN TURKEY. (M. Sc. Thesis) Savaş İNCİROĞLU GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY August 1997 ABSTRACT This research has been done to study the effectiveness of violin playing techniques in the Departments of music Education and Turkish Music Makam in Turkey. Makams and makam series have been examined for the purpose of this research. Exercieses and etud were conducted for the purpose of identifying the usefullness of the tecnique of the violin on makams tampere sound system. The research collected and the etuds was presented to the students of Gazi Universty Music Education Department Anabilim Anasanat Branch. Some opinions and ideas were submitted. As a result of this research, it is evident that the playing tecniques is very effective in Turkish Music Makam.
