The aim of this research is to decide whether there is a significant connection between the basic value level of students who study at the Painting Department of Anatolian Fine Arts and Sport High School and Public High School students and their receiving art education. This is a study in which students' basic value perception points were identified as dependent variable, and their receiving visual art education was identified as independent variable. The system of research consists of students who studied at music departments of 90 Anatolian Fine Arts and Sport High School (6312 students) and students who studied at 3330 Public High School (1852111 students) in 2010-2011 academic year in Turkey. (National Education Statistics, Formal Education, 2012) The sample of the research consists of 3116 students who study at the Painting Department of 7Anatolian Fine Arts and Sport High School and 7 Public High School's 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades chosen from the cities of Turkey's 7 regions such as Ankara, Adana, Diyarbakır, İstanbul, İzmir, Malatya, Trabzon. In order to identify the students who will participate in the samples of the study, Random method, one of the sampling methods depending on probability, was used. Personal data form and Schwartz Portre Value Questionnaires were used to get the necessary data for this research. The data which were obtained in the direction of research aims were analyzed using SPSS 17 (Statistical Package for The Social Sciences) software package. Kruskal Wallis H Technique was used in the analysis of data. There is a meaningful difference on behalf of students of AFASHS (PD) between the students of AFASHS (PD) and PHS's students in terms of basic values. In the analysis of the results of sub-dimension of basic values a meaningful difference was observed on some dimensions such as universalism, self tendency, success, stimulation, kindness on behalf of students of AFASHS in comparison with PHS's students. There weren't any significant differences between two kinds of schools in other subdimensions such as strength, hedonism, self tendency, obedience and security. According to class levels of AFASHS's students in terms of basic values, meaningful differences were detected in self tendency and security sub dimensions, but it was observed that there was an increase in this two values as the class levels went higher. No other significant differences were detected in other sub-dimensions. During the research, it wasn't encountered with any works aimed at art education's effects and roles on values, and values transmissions. The shortcomings in this area should be dealt with. In the light of obtained findings schools and parents shouldn't only expect success from the students. Students' character education should equally be given importance, and it's thought that the students should be motivated to show positive behavior. It can be said that increasing visual art education in terms of quality can give positive results.
