Abstract:

Nowadays, in most countries, fossil fuels as petroleum, coal, natural gas are mainly used for energy. Rising of energy demand has caused to exhausting of fossil based fuels rapidlyand increasing of environmental pollution anormally. With this reason renewable energy demand has gone up. In this study, fatty acid methyl esters which are one of renewable energy kinds were synthesized with transesterification reaction. LiNO3/CaO catalysts were synthesized in different rates. These catalysts were tested with canola oil, soybean oil, nut oil and some alcohol kinds in that reaction. The optimum conditions were found for transesterification reaction with changing values as various alcohols, various oils, alcohol/oil ratio, amount of catalyst and reaction time. The structure of fatty acid methyl esters were characterized by ATR-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy
