Abstract:Stirling engines became the focus of interest after the energy crisis in 1970' s which was left out of development after the invention of Internal Combustion Engines on 19th century. In this study, considering the solar energy potential of Turkey, a V type Stirling engine having two heater has been designed, optimized by computer and manufactured. The prototype engine has been tested in laboratory conditions using an electrical heating system. Tests were conducted within the temperature range of 650-1000 °C by 50 °C increments. The pressure ranged from the atmospheric condition to 2 bar with 0,5 bar increment at each stage of temperature. The maximum power was obtained at 950 °C heater temperature and 1,5 bar charge pressure as 65 W. The results of the study were presented by diagrams and tables.
