Özet:Resources are decreasing all over the world and the need for buildings is increasing significantly. The building sector covers 30% of the total energy consumption. Approximately one-quarter of this energy consumption is done by residential buildings. In recent years, scientific studies and applications aimed at increasing the energy performance of buildings around the world have gained momentum. These studies include improving the performance of existing buildings as well as the new buildings. The number of studies on “cost optimum energy levels” on residential buildings is insufficient. It is seen that costeffective refurbishment studies are generally applied in buildings located in cold regions. In this thesis, it is aimed to overcome this deficiency by analyzing the cost-effective imrovement techniques on an existing residential building on the hot-dry climate zone. Refurbishment alternatives have been developed in accordance with TS25 and the climatic characteristics of the region by using DesignBuilder building energy simulation program, heating-cooling and total energy performances of the residential building in Diyarbakır have been analyzed, the best samples depending on the cost and different performances were determined with the use of heat insulation and glass types
