Abstract:This research was conducted in order to examine the effect of education on gifted problem-solving skills for primary school 1st grade students. The effect of the problem solving training program on the problem solving skills acquisition of elementary school 1st graders was investigated with pretest, posttest and control group experimental design. The study group of the research consisted of gifted 1st grade students of a private school in the provincial center of Kayseri. The study group of the research consisted of 15 children. A General Information Form developed by the researcher and a gifted child candidate identification form and the Problem Solving Scale developed by Ömeroğlu and Ark(2004) and the Wisc-R test were used as data collection tools in the research. Program of problem solving education occurs 36 meeting. Education program applied to study group by researcers throughout 12 weeks in a 3 days per a week. Mann-whitney u test is applied to examine education of solving problem effect on children solving ability, and for comparing addicted group Wilcoxen sign language is applied. It has been taken 0,05 as level of significance. To determine the permanency of the training, the Problem Solving Scale was reapplied to the children in the study group three weeks after the training program was completed. As a result of the findings, it was determined that the Problem Solving Education Program was effective for the children to gain problem solving ability and this effect was permanent. According to the results of the research, proposals are listed for gifted classroom teachers and researchers.
