Abstract:

Educational programs are the road maps of education process in the schools. In Turkey, there

are several other program types that are legally approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE)

and used by both public and private schools beside the national educational programs which

are centrally prepared by MoE. In this research, the effects of one of those program types;

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) together with MoE education

program on the management skills of school principals are tried to be analyzed on high

school level. The research is designed as a correlational survey model and the “Program

Leadership Analysis Scale” prepared by Demiral and Program Evaluation Form are used to

obtain data from the teachers and school principals. The results of the surveys are analyzed

in a correlational perspective. It is found out as a result of the research that the school

principals who work in the schools which apply the IBD Program perform the program

management skills on a higher level than those who work in the schools which uses the

national education program prepared by the MoE. The differences are in all dimensions of

the scales including the effective guidance of teachers, monitoring the student development

and using the financial resources effectively. Inferences that can be utilized by school

principals are made within the light of the findings.
