Abstract:This study aims to research the validity and reliability of the Turkish Language Activities Observation Form developed to measure the language acquisition in six-year-old Turkish children living in Switzerland. In addition to the validity and reliability studies, the additional questions of whether language acquisition in six-year-old Turkish children living in Switzerland varied with respect to sex, amount of time parents spent in Switzerland, number of siblings and birth order was also investigated. Data was collected through the Turkish Language Activities Observation Form developed by the researcher to measure the language acquisition in six-year-old Turkish children. As a result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, all items on the form were found to be valid and reliable representatives of their respective sub-dimensions. The results showed that the language acquisition of six-year-old Turkish children living in Switzerland did not vary according to sex, amount of time their parents spent in Switzerland, number of siblings or birth order.
