Abstract:In this research, the 4 psychological scales which were determined to be used frequently in Guidance and Research Centers are examined in terms of validity, reliability and test adaptation standards and deficiencies are determined, as well. It is aimed to guide both the authorities and the the scale users. The selected scales were Wechsler Intelligence Scale Revised Form (WISC-R), Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale, Gesell Developmental Scale and Leiter International Performance Scale. These scales were examined seperately by 3 raters according to the validity, reliability and test adaptation standards. As a result of the examinations, the extent to which the scales meet the relevant standards and the features to be developed were determined. In terms of validity, it has been determined that WISC-R is fully compatible with 4 of the standards examined, partially compatible with 3 and not compatible with 2 of them. It has been observed that Stanford-Binet is fully compatible with 2 of the standards, partially compatible with 1 and not compatible with 4 of them. In Gesell, it was observed that it was fully compatible with 2 standards and partially with 2, but it was viii not compatible with 2 standards at all. It was observed that Leiter is fully compatible with 2 of the standards, partially with 4 and not at all with 3. In terms of reliability, WISC-R was found to be fully compliant with 8 standards and not at all with 1 standard. It was observed that Stanford-Binet was not compatible with the 27 standards since there was no reliability study. In Gesell, it was found that it ise fully compliant with 3 standards; was partially compatible with 2, but not at all with 7 standards. Leiter is fully compatible with 2 standards and partially compatible with 2 and not compatible with 4 of them at all. According to test adaptation standards, WISC-R is fully compatible with 5 standards, partially compatible with 2 and not compatible with 4 standards. Although it is known that the translation of Stanford-Binet was made, it has not been examined according to the adaptation standards since it is not in a written source. Because of the fact that there isn’t any study of adaptations or translations about Gesell and Leiter, it was observed that both scales were not compatible with 12 standards, at all. Wechsler Intelligence Scale Improved Form has been suggested to be improved according to 5 standards in validity, 1 standards in reliability, and 6 in scale adaptation. It has been suggested to improve the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale according to 6 standards in validity and 27 standards in reliability. Gesell Development Scale was suggested to be improved according to 4 standards in validity, 8 in reliability and 12 in scale adaptation. It has been suggested to improve the Leiter International Performance Scale according to 7 standards in validity, 6 in reliability, and 12 standards in scale adaptation
