Abstract:

This research was carried out with volunteers at the rate of one fourth of all students studying at two year Vocational High school of the university of 19 Mayıs in 2016-2017 education year. The research aims at determining the effectiveness and applicability of the abstract art concept in graphic design lessons as well as revealing how they reflected the necessity and the work of the abstract art understanding of the students in the works they had put forward under the influence of this understanding. This research is a qualitative research in terms of the purpose to which it is carried and the nature of the data obtained in accordance with this aim. In the conceptual parts of the research, relevant literature was searched and necessary background was created. Data gathered in the study were obtained by examining the interviews made during the process of the students' studies and the results of the studies which were done at the end of the process. When the results of the research are evaluated in general, it is obviously seen that abstract art concept reflects seriously in the emergence of graphic design products. And even for some graphic design products to be able to form an abstract art understanding is an essential element emerges as an antagonism.
