Prof. HÜSEYİN GÜÇLÜ YAVUZCAN

Biography

Full Professor, Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Architecture, Gazi University.

Earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees at Ankara University. Conducted the part of his Ph.D. at SGGW Warsaw University within NATO Science Fellowship. Has been awarded Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and conducted post-doctoral studies in Technical University of Munich (TUM) from 1998-2000 in the field of Biosystems Engineering. Between 2000 and 2002 , has been nominated as regional developments projects coordinator and resident representive in Kazakhstan for Turkish International Cooperation Agency.

In July 2002, appointed as associate professor to the Department of Industrial Technology, Gazi University. In 2005, was promoted to full professorship and appointed to the chair of the Industrial Technology Department between 2005 and 2013. In 2007 nominated as Bologna Expert by the Turkish Higher Education Council and the European Commission with a main responsibility quality assurance in higher education.

He has been involved in several European Projects (LLP, ESF-COST, Erasmus+) as the promoter and coordinator. From 2005 to 2008 nominated as advior to the rector for internalisation, quality assurance, international projects and industrial property. In 2009, entitled as "patent attorney" by the Turkish Patent Institute. 

Between 2013 and 2019, nominated as the head of department of Industrial Product Design Department, Faculty of Architecture, Gazi University. He was also selected as the member of Gazi University Senate between 2006 and 2009 and the member of the faculty administrative board between 2007 and 2019. He has given lectures at the University of Duisburg-Essen, University of Potsdam, University of Flenburg and University of Sevilla at different terms within Erasmus and Humboldt programs.

Since 2007, he partially works for European Commission as European Projects Evaulator in EACEA. As well as that, he works for Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) as academic evaluator and team leader in Institutional Accreditation and Institutional Evaluation Programs. He is the member of Technical University of Munich and Humboldt Stiftung Alumni.
