Prof. FATMA AÇIK

She graduated from Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He worked as a teacher at various high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education between 1991-1996.

In 1996, he completed his master's degree in Turkish Education at Gazi University, Institute of Social Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdurahman Güzel. She completed his doctorate in the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology of Mirza Ulughbey Tashkent State University, Department of National Awakening Period Uzbek Literature under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Begali Kasımov in 2001.

In the 1996-1999 academic year, she was assigned by the Ministry of National Education as an instructor of Turkish Language at Uzbekistan State World University. In 2001, she started working as an instructor in the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Gazi University. 

She was assigned as an instructor of Turkish Language at GU TÖMER between 2002-2006. In 2006, she was appointed as an assistant professor at the Department of Turkish Education, Faculty of Education, Gazi University. She became an associate professor in 2008 and a professor in 2013.

She was the vice head of the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education between 2016 and 2019, and has been the head of the Department of Turkish Education since 2020, and the head of the Department of Turkish Education since 2023.

In line with the agreements made by Gazi University, she conducted research as a visiting professor at Northern Virginia Community College in Washington, USA between August 2014 and November 2014.

She was awarded the Second Best Scientist Award in 2020 for his studies on the Uzbek language and literature. In 2024, she was awarded the Nevai Service Award by the AliSher Nevai Uzbek Language and Literature University.

In addition to her duties at the university, she served as a member of the Scientific Board at the Turkish Language Association (TDK) between 01.11.2022 - 13.11.2023.

Her areas of interest include social and cultural life throughout the Turkish world, Uzbek language and literature, teaching Turkish as a foreign language, and language policies.
