Assoc. Prof. ADEM TEKEREK

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adem TEKEREK serves as a faculty member at Gazi University, Faculty of Technology, Department of Computer Engineering. His research primarily focuses on artificial intelligence, deep learning, and cybersecurity. Building his academic career at the intersection of information systems, machine learning, and information security, Dr. Tekerek concentrates on developing AI-driven cyber defense systems, deep learning-based intrusion detection, and intelligent data analysis models for security and health applications. His doctoral research introduced a novel real-time web application firewall algorithm designed to prevent web-based attacks, presenting an innovative solution to modern cybersecurity challenges.

Dr. Tekerek’s AI-centered studies encompass diverse applications, including phishing attack detection, malware classification, signature verification, disease prediction, and plant disease recognition. He has developed models based on BiLSTM, CNN, DenseNet, EfficientNet, and Transformer architectures, publishing his work in prestigious journals such as Computers & Security, IEEE Access, Expert Systems with Applications, and Computers and Electrical Engineering. Furthermore, he has explored the interdisciplinary use of AI in agriculture, healthcare, education, and IoT security, contributing to several European-funded projects including ROBOCOOP, DIVERSASIA, and MyPeerMentor under the Erasmus+ program.

His recent research interests include AI-enhanced data protection, deep learning-based recommendation systems, autonomous systems, and big data analytics. Through his supervision of graduate theses, he has guided numerous projects employing deep learning for phishing detection, COVID-19 image analysis, and e-commerce recommendation optimization. He is also a contributing author to international academic volumes such as Applied Assistive Technologies and Informatics for Students with Disabilities (Springer, 2024) and Secure Software Development (Nobel Academic Publishing, 2023), where he discusses AI-driven security frameworks and intelligent informatics applications.

In addition to his research, Assoc. Prof. Tekerek serves as an editor for the journal Computer and Informatics and as an editorial board member for Gazi Journal of Engineering Sciences and Turkish Journal of Education. With his strong interdisciplinary background, prolific publication record, and innovative contributions, he is recognized as one of the leading academics in the convergence of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in Turkey.
